If you have ever been in my office, you KNOW I love maps! I have always found them to be a fascinating visual representation of the world we inhabit. Did you know, though, that all world maps are actually inaccurate? Watch the following video to find out more!

This amazing video captures the movements of coral using some 25,000 images and took over a year to photograph! Stunning!
I have often thought that a slinky making its way down a set of stairs looks alive. The slinkies in the video below actually ARE alive! Enjoy! If you "follow" my WOW entries, you know that I love birds-- especially hummingbirds. You also may know that I have a "soft spot" for the amazing octopus....Imagine my delight, then, when I saw the following video caption: "Hummingbird's Face Resembles Baby Octopus." My favorite part is actually the reaction of the other hummingbird, but without further ado or commentary... John Urschel, a published mathematician, MIT student, and pro football player for the Baltimore Ravens, recently posted a "Wednesday Morning Math Challenge" on The Players' Tribune website. Here is the introduction he posted: "One of my life’s passions is the desire to learn about the unknown — and to expand our understanding of it. For the rest of the NFL season, I’ll be sharing that passion with you. Each week I’ll give you three puzzles. Sometimes they will involve math, other times logic and some of them will test your spatial awareness and reasoning. What unifies every one of these problems is that each one will make you think. Give the problems below a try, and check back next week for the answers — and a brand new set of puzzles." Now I don't know about you, but that was all the inviting I needed!! Visit the link below for the first installment, and Happy Solving!! www.theplayerstribune.com/wednesday-morning-math-challenge-week-1/ I admit it. I LOVE crayons. I always have. There is just something about a fresh box of crayons that makes me smile! You understand, then, why I just HAD to post the below! While I do not happen to have a workshop at home with a lathe, I still found it fun to watch, and got inspired to think of some "crayon crafts" that I CAN do! Enjoy! For a true "WOW!!" experience, watch the below video! Amazing!!! In 2014, Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant contacted conceptual design studio Lernert & Sander to create a piece for a special documentary photography issue about food. Lernert & Sander responded with this somewhat miraculous photo of 98 unprocessed foods cut into extremely precise 2.5cm cubes aligned on a staggered grid. Looking at the shot it seems practically impossible, but the studio confirms it is indeed the real thing... Learn more on their website.
-Image and above text taken from http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2015/05/cubes-lerner-sander/ How many of the foods can YOU identify?? Once you've given it a shot, check your guesses by clicking the link below the photo! As many of you know, I LOVE to watch the birds in my yard! I have been lucky enough to see some incredible varieties of birds over the years, and just a couple of days ago, I saw one I had never seen before! The male scarlet tanager (pictured below in the top left) was quite beautiful, and I am hoping to see him again soon! I have also included pictures of two of my other backyard favorites-- the Northern Cardinal (male and female pictured here), and the tiny Ruby -Throated Hummingbird. What birds are in YOUR yard?? You might be surprised if you go take a look sometime!
